Olena Povrozina
Olena Povrozina is an amateur artist who expresses her feelings through painting. Originally from Ukraine, where she worked as a dentist in medical and educational fields throughout her adult life, she now resides in the Champaign-Urbana community. Painting has been her passion and desire since she enjoyed some art classes as a child. She believes that paintings of the artist are like facial features; they follow the change in her feelings and emotions. When the viewers are looking at the painting, they are immersed in the emotional state of the artist captured like a frozen moment. Everybody has a broad spectrum of emotions, and most viewers will be attracted by the work in which they find a reflection of their own emotional state. Although Olena doesn’t have a formal art education she tries to invent her own technique. During different times of her life, she explored on her own different styles of painting: still life, landscape, portrait, abstract, impressionism, symbolism. She finds inspiration for her work in everyday life using primarily oil painting for self-expression. Olena participated in multiple art shows in Ukraine, displaying her paintings at numerous venues. Here, in the US, she enjoyed participating in Champaign County Town & Country Amateur Art Show at Springer cultural center.
