Introspective Reflections is an immersive installation that is a collaboration between Matt Harsh and John McNally. East Central Illinois is often thought of as barren in terms of both natural beauty and culture. But nestled between the endless miles of corn and soybeans there are pockets of nature. East Central Illinois also has pockets of culture and progressive thinking. Like a dandelion in the cracks of the sidewalk, we persist. Introspective Reflections brings the natural beauty of Illinois to the forefront. The installation is also a reaction to the state of our times. We live very fast-paced lives and we are constantly inundated with information. The relentless flood of information is very hard for our brains to process. That is why Introspective Reflections invites viewers to slow down, relax, and make some space for themselves. When we slow down and enjoy the beauty and wonders of nature we connect with it. When we connect with it we feel inspired to save it.
