Jan Granse

Jan Granse is a local artist, born in Effingham, Illinois in 1949, and currently lives in Urbana, Illinois. She paints with acrylic and oil, often using acrylic as an underpainting and oil in the finishing layers. Subjects include landscape, botanicals, and portraits in a variety of styles. In 1986, Jan earned her Master’s Degree from The School of Art and Design, University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois. She retired in 2004 after 31 years of teaching art and elementary classes in the public schools. She currently lives with her husband of 55 years, in Urbana, Illinois, and works in her home studio.
