Carol Corning
I am a Midwest native who draws much of my inspiration from growing up in a landscape of rusting railroad towns, rolling cornfields and open skies. I have always been a roamer and draw much of my inspiration wandering around by foot, car or train and finding less explored crevices that can be like magic portals to other worlds. My handle, analog.roam, is a throwback to when cell phone coverage was spotty and I would often find myself in some unknown place on “analog roam” – off the digital network.
I tend to explore themes of places and things abandoned to time, veneration, reverence, the imprints we leave on spaces, as well as nature in her bare majesty. A lot of my photos play with perspective and hidden or obscure subjects, more than initially meets the eye. I will be at Gallery Art Bar for Boneyard 24’ and the month of April. Where my photos are generally pretty naturalistic, for this venue I really wanted to play with bright flashy colors and high contrast to fit with the vibe, so I’m excited to be showing something a bit new for me.
I had a lot of fun preparing for this one and am excited to be showing alongside 4 other amazing artists!
