We are an independent, locally-owned cafe that serves Intelligentsia coffee and caters to local artists. We express our love for community building by being a place of artistic expression and providing a place for people to get together or spend time alone and enjoy artisan baked goods and coffee.
Featuring Kuhu Shukla, Amani Ells, and Michael Gutzmer.
Kuhu is a Senior Software Engineer at NVIDIA who also practices Warli. Warli is an ancient art form from Central India, traditionally used to depict everyday scenes of life and invented by women more than 2500 years ago. Kuhu’s art, primarily painting on canvas, extends beyond these traditional themes. Her subjects focus on the inner workings of the mind and the human condition, and challenge gender bias and undocumented struggles. Inspired by Jungian thought, her work explores themes of inner “Shadows” and personal growth. Specific subjects include: moments of togetherness, the essential self, inevitable growth (sometimes integrating Tlingit-Haida elements), the vows of inner “shadows” and explores overcoming pain and finding wholeness through love in all forms.
Caffe Paradiso has been a place for young artists to exhibit their art in a non-judgmental and non-restrictive way since 1998. We believe art makes us better as a community.
