My art is greatly-inspired by the human sense of nostalgia. Often, I find that our strongest memories come from the seemingly mundane moments in life. In my work, I seek to trigger my viewers’ sense of memory through color and imagery in order to draw my audience into a bonding conversation. I believe that art has the power to unify people despite their differences. I have also found the sense of nostalgia transcends time in a way that can allow people to connect across generations. Though the generational divide may seem to be growing due to advancements in technology, I find that many people share experiences such as playing on monkey bars, the pattern of their grandmother’s wallpaper, or the smell of freshly cut grass. In my artwork I use vintage imagery along with small nods to modern day in order to evoke the memories of my audience.
