Rob Kanter

Rob Kanter is a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Earth, Society, and Environment at the University of Illinois. He also writes and narrates “Environmental Almanac,” a weekly program that runs as a column in the Sunday edition of the Champaign News-Gazette and a radio commentary on WILL-AM 580 and other NPR affiliates in Illinois.

“Photographing wildlife makes me a better observer and appreciator of the natural world, and it enriches my life immeasurably. It provides documentation of rare sightings; it enables me to share with other people the beauty of birds that live among us (or that pass through central Illinois a couple of times a year); and it helps me communicate some of what’s interesting about the creatures people typically look past.”
