I first started working with pressed leaves after being inspired by another artist that used natural materials. The first piece I made was for a project for graduate school while in Jackson, Wyoming. Years later after moving to Iowa, where I worked as a zookeeper, I really got into the leaf art more and more. That is when I started to create art with animals and expand my designs through commissions. I have recently started to work in pressed flowers into some of my pieces. While I have made certain pieces dozens of times, each piece is always different and unique due to the leaves that are used. I really just enjoy making things, and look forward to have a work space big enough I start to transfer what I do with leaves into other mediums.
