Steven Boyd Hudson’s Past the Unsustainable Now
The paintings in this new body of work are a playful imagining of the coming unrecognizable ecosystem. In place of our familiar landscape, Hudson is depicting an alien place. Here, energized gases light the sky in odd colors. Manmade artifacts are cast about and engulfed by frantic storms. In this twilight din, nature is presented as a remnant, antagonist or as an unbalanced plague forced into an unfunctioning ecology. This work is a journey past the unsustainable now.
