Illini 4000
Illini 4000 is a student-run nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research and patient support services through annual cross-country bike rides. Beyond all that pedaling, one of our core focuses is The Portraits Project: an initiative that documents personal stories of how individuals across the United States cope with cancer, shaped by their unique life experiences and beliefs.
The Portraits Gallery is a curation of interviews from 19 years of Illini 4000’s existence, the result of hundreds of conversations with strangers we met on the side of the road as we biked across the country, year after year. By sharing these interviews, we hope to unite those who have been affected by cancer and focus on the human voices behind the statistics and stigma.
Every dollar makes The Portraits Project possible and provides critical funding for cancer research and patient support services. Our donation channels: https://www.illini4000.org/donate – includes Apple Pay and PayPal treasurer@illini4000.org – Zelle
