Danielle Chynoweth
Danielle Chynoweth is co-author of Remaking Democracy: How We Make the Worlds We Want, a guidebook for social change.
She co-founded the Urbana Champaign Independent Media Center and Urbana’s Public Arts Program. Danielle was the Organizing Director for Media Justice and Vice-President of Design at Pixo Tech.
She currently works to end local homelessness and hunger as elected Supervisor of Cunningham Township, chair of the Public Health Board, and Field Instructor for the University of Illinois School of Social Work.
Danielle was drawn to Urbana to make art and tour with the Performers’ Workshop Ensemble and has taught at the School for Designing a Society since 1996. She has presented on social change in Burma, Thailand, Kenya, Italy and throughout the US.
Awards include: Woman Makes Waves, Woman of the Year, McKinley Social Justice Award, ACE Award for Creative Community Service. She holds degrees in Political Science and Sculpture from New School and New College.
