Although I had taken many art classes in school, I do you consider myself self-taught. Trying to unlearn things I was taught “real artists do not do”, only to find out by true artist they did do has been a barrier that I still struggle to overcome.

Having contributed to several community shows in the past I am having my first solo show at the 2024 Boneyard Fest [at Urbana Acupuncture]. Some of my work is permanently located at the U of I Chemical and Life Sciences Laboratory.

More recently, one of my sketches was accepted to used as a prototype for a logo for the Feathers & Fangs, a non-profit animal sanctuary in Atmore, Alabama.

My work consists mainly of gesture drawings, rather than full portraits, which take anywhere from ten seconds to thirty minutes to finish (depending on the medium). Preferred medium is acrylic outline with an accent colour in watercolor. Although they may not always portray a great likeness, they are meant to capture a mannerism, a posture, a fleeting glimpse of a person.
