SUMMARY:Needful Things Warehouse Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Fine art painter Beth Darling will be exhibiting vibrant landscapes of the southwest\, local gardens and whimsical still lives. \nJill Quisenberry will be exhibiting landscape watercolor paintings\, acrylic paintings\, paintings on tile and Santorini stone. Her unconventional\, often whimsical choice of subjects rendered in a juicy impasto of brilliant colors and rich patterns achieve a childlike simplicity in spite of her years of formal training. Her works are serious paintings but their refreshing honesty makes them optimistic and lighthearted. Beth’s works can be seen in her large sunny studio on the top floor of the historic Lincoln Building at 44 E Main St.\, Downtown Champaign. \nJill Quisenberry: Jill Quisenberry\, Medium – Watercolors\, Acrylics\, and Mixed Media. Jill will be exhibiting watercolor paintings\, acrylic paintings\, paintings on tile and Santorini stone. Jill will also have book corners that are hand painted watercolor with gold leaf. Jill’s watercolors and larger scale acrylic paintings are mostly landscapes. Jill Quisenberry – is a retired elementary school teacher who sees art as a way to share beauty and as therapy for the artist.  Jill wants the viewer to feel peace and enjoy a little window into a calming space.  Jill enjoys many different styles and ways to convey my emotions as artistic production.  Jill’s art can be seen and purchased on Facebook @ JillQuisenberry\, or Instagram @ mrsqberry  and is also located at The Vault Art Gallery in Tuscola\, IL \nMelissa Mitchell: Melissa Mitchell is a Champaign-based assemblage/creative-reuse artist\, photographer\, writer and collector of vintage and other unusual objects. The lines dividing her multiple identities tend to blur and shift — often without warning. Collectibles from home and garden décor are sometimes co-opted for use in assemblage sculptures or become photographic subjects. She has exhibited and sold her work in juried exhibitions and galleries locally and throughout the United States. Mitchell’s work may be viewed at her ACME Elfworks studio in downtown Champaign by appointment; contact: ACMEelfworks@gmail.com \nApril Lucas: April Lucas is a retired florist and active craftsperson specializing in repurposed antiques and vintage tin vignettes. SUMMARY:The Scratching Post
DESCRIPTION:The Scratching Post will exhibit works from four local artists during Boneyard Arts Festival: Shauri E. Gonzalez\, Katie Khau\, EKAH and Sydney Bruner. This will be an open house exhibit on the cafe side (cat free) during our normal open hours. \nShauri E Gonzalez: Cats appear in my work as quiet muses of autonomy\, softness\, and subtle rebellion. I create cat art to capture the feeling of living alongside them; the softness\, the mischief\, the comfort. Through my art\, I hope viewers see their own companions reflected back at them and feel that familiar love we share for the cats who choose us. Or perhaps fall in love with cats themselves\, as my depictions place cats in tender\, aesthetic home spaces to highlight their charm and individuality. Another reason I draw cats is to allow me to explore feminism in a way I have not seen explored before\, gentle and sweet. The exploration of one’s interests and reclaiming softness. Similarly\, returning to pink often symbolizes healing and making peace with parts of oneself that were previously suppressed. I use cats as my art theme to feel intimate and cozy. Cats are both rooted in softness and self-possession and the quiet strength of simply being. Cats do not perform for approval. They rest when they want to rest. They ask for affection on their own terms. They observe before they act. There is something profoundly feminist in that. In my drawings\, cats are soft but sovereign. They represent rest without guilt\, affection without submission\, beauty without apology. They remind us that femininity does not have to be loud to be powerful but can be quiet\, watchful\, and unwavering like a cat. \nKatie Khau: Katie Khau is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Champaign\, IL. She does graphic design for museum exhibits at Taylor Studios and does freelance art and design for board games. Katie is on the board of CUDO and co-chair of the CUDO Plays board game design competition. \nEKAH: I am a visual artist originally from Seoul\, South Korea. My family and I immigrated to New York City where I spent most of my formative years. My work visually tells stories using both traditional and modern tools—drawing\, animation\, digital media\, optical illusions\, and interactive art. The worlds I create are often inhabited by characters and environments that range from surreal to absurd. and dystopian or beautiful. Influenced by my multicultural upbringing\, my work evolves through curiosity for the unknown and tendency to challenge expectations. I embrace all media\, remaining agnostic to tools and styles. \nSydney Bruner: Sydney Bruner is an artist based out of Champaign\, IL. She primarily uses acrylic and oil paint. Her artwork focuses on topics of nature\, nostalgia\, pop culture\, feminism\, and introspection. She enjoys working with bright colors\, glitter\, rhinestones\, and iridescent materials. \nFriday 2pm-10pm\nSaturday 2pm-10pm\nSunday 2pm-10pm

SUMMARY:The Cohen Exhibition Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Prairie Rivers Network and our friends at the Cohen Exhibition Workshop in Urbana present an exhibition exploring the future of the Illinois landscape—one shaped by restoration\, resilience\, and possibility. Illinois’ landscape tells a powerful story: fertile soils\, vast prairies\, winding rivers\, and communities deeply connected to the land. Today\, that landscape also holds extraordinary opportunity—to restore natural systems while building a healthier and more resilient future for all who call this place home. Imagine: Wetlands filtering drinking water and absorbing excess floodwaters. Prairies supporting biodiversity while storing carbon in deep-rooted soils. Rivers connecting communities across the state while sustaining the ecosystems that make life here possible. This exhibition invites viewers to see the Illinois landscape not only as it is—but as it could become. \nFEATURING: \nTali Weinberg \nKim Curtis \nPeg Shaw \nMatt Harsh \nKelly Hieronymus \nIncluding paintings\, weaving\, video and sound. \nHours:\nFriday from 2pm-7pm\nSaturday from 3pm-8pm

DESCRIPTION:Featuring Samuel Herndon! (20) 8×10 Silver Gelatin Prints All editions 1/1 One year capturing photographs on 35mm black-and-white film\, each image inspired by a one-word AI prompt. \nThis series investigates the intersection of generative artificial intelligence and traditional photographic practice. Over the span of a year\, the artist produced 35mm black-and-white photographs in response to single-word AI prompts. \nThe project positions analog photography within the context of an expanding digital image ecosystem. At a moment when text-to-image systems can generate limitless visual output in seconds\, Samuel’s work returns to a slower methodology rooted in exposure\, chemical process\, and physical permanence. \nThe series converts minimal digital input into a deliberate physical artifact\, highlighting how interpretation intervenes between prompt and print. \nFriday 4/10/2026: 11:00 AM-11:00 PM\nSaturday 4/11/2026: 11:00 AM-11:00 PM\nSunday 4/12/2025: 11:00 AM- 9:00 PM \nOpening Reception on 4/10/2026 in the evening.
