SUMMARY:Champaign Urbana Community Fab Lab
DESCRIPTION:The CU Community Fab Lab will be displaying the work of artist Samantha J. Jones as well as maker activities throughout the Fab Lab. Using trays\, cookware\, and other everyday items\, Samantha J. Jones creates sculptural works that feel part kitchen\, part workshop\, part stage set. Built from fabricated materials and hand assembly\, the pieces explore care\, labor\, and growing up through humor and bright\, familiar forms. The work encourages viewers to slow down and reconsider the small\, often overlooked rituals of home and daily life. In addition\, throughout the Fab Lab there will be making activities that everyone is welcome to join in on! Some of the activities will consist of collage\, laser etching\, sublimation printing\, printmaking\, and sticker cutting. \nSamantha J. Jones is an interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture\, performance\, and digital fabrication. Her work explores girlhood\, labor\, and identity through installations\, objects\, and participatory environments that blur the line between store\, stage\, and studio. Based in Urbana\, Illinois\, she is an MFA candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign and works with the Champaign-Urbana Community Fab Lab leading hands-on workshops and community fabrication projects. \nSunday April 12 from 1pm to 5pm

He draws upon multiple disciplines to create sculptures and installations — working with materials in disrepair to challenge what is thought to be worthy of artistic attention. \n\n\n\nJennie Maydew explores how an interdisciplinary social practice can playfully dissolve prescription\, emphasize process\, and keep our personal and communal gifts in motion. Through an inquiry into alternate economies\, (fun)ctionality\, and the concept of play as serious work\, she centers the nature and urgency of our obligations to past\, present\, and future beings. Creating the conditions where questions can be collectively tended\, Jennie delays certainty to recognize attention\, attunement\, and ambivalence as life-sustaining strategies. \nVictoria Schiodtz is an intermedial artist born in Viña Del Mar\, Chile\, in 1998. She attended the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso\, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in 2021. Her body of work and exploration orbit the concepts of trauma\, memory\, body and origin. Victoria currently lives in Urbana\, Illinois\, where she is an MFA in Studio Art candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. \nThair Thursday – Sculptor\, animator\, fiber artist//organizer\, gardener\, friend//trans\, queer\, fag \n

DESCRIPTION:Viewers of all ages are invited to participate with artists at Titan Games’ first ever Boneyard event. Most of his professional work has been in the dungeon synth and metal music scenes\, working with groups like Morke\, Wooden Vessels and Kingdom Quest. All of his pieces are hand drawn and painted in the traditional mediums of acrylic paints and inks. \nBailee Kaufmann works with all kinds of different mediums\, but she primarily works with digital media using a software called Procreate. Fantasy art is her favorite to make\, especially if it’s for her and her friends’ D&D campaigns! \nJustin Klett is a graphic designer and digital illustrator from the Champaign area and recently moved to Beaverville\, IL up near Kankakee and Watseka. He goes all over the place with what he does\, but his personal style is a 1930s revival of WPA-style graphics.
