SUMMARY:UIUC Graduate South Studios
DESCRIPTION:Visit the University of Illinois South Studios complex and meet the Studio Art MFA candidates in their graduate studios. Current students are working in painting\, printmaking\, sculpture\, textiles\, drawing\, collage\, animation\, photography\, and social practice. Events include textile workshops\, drop-in artmaking activities\, artworks for sale\, panel conversation\, publication release\, plant sale\, and light refreshments. \nSUNDAY\, APRIL 12: \n11:00am-12:30pm Photoembroidery Workshop\nVictoria Schiodtz\nLocation: Building 5\nCLICK HERE to Register! \n1:00-3:00pm Wardrobe Workshop ($5 deposit- to be returned at the workshop) \nLab Thair Thursday and Jennie Maydew\nLocation: Building 2\nCLICK HERE to Register! \n4:00-4:45pm Publication Release and Panel Conversation\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm Collage and Button Making\nThursday Talcott\nLocation: Building 6 \n11:00am-4:00pm Printmaking Shop\nIndigo Rodríguez\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm Plant Sale\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm DIY Popcorn Bar\nLocation: Building 6 \n\n\n\nDriveways are gravel and doors are not automatic — though\, there are no stairs or ramps to worry about\, and doors will be propped open. \nIndigo Rodríguez is an artist and writer interrogating representation\, erasure\, and the confrontational nature of normative assumptions. He draws upon multiple disciplines to create sculptures and installations — working with materials in disrepair to challenge what is thought to be worthy of artistic attention. \n\n\n\nJennie Maydew explores how an interdisciplinary social practice can playfully dissolve prescription\, emphasize process\, and keep our personal and communal gifts in motion. Through an inquiry into alternate economies\, (fun)ctionality\, and the concept of play as serious work\, she centers the nature and urgency of our obligations to past\, present\, and future beings. Creating the conditions where questions can be collectively tended\, Jennie delays certainty to recognize attention\, attunement\, and ambivalence as life-sustaining strategies. \nVictoria Schiodtz is an intermedial artist born in Viña Del Mar\, Chile\, in 1998. She attended the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso\, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in 2021. Her body of work and exploration orbit the concepts of trauma\, memory\, body and origin. Victoria currently lives in Urbana\, Illinois\, where she is an MFA in Studio Art candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. \nThair Thursday – Sculptor\, animator\, fiber artist//organizer\, gardener\, friend//trans\, queer\, fag \n

Meet the muralist behind the magic at this opening reception. \nacme.nadir is a local artist from the area. They first got into painting through skateboarding/graffiti. Over the years they’ve enjoyed experimenting with different mediums and styles\, their favorites being spray paint and acrylics. Over the last two years they’ve been focusing heavy on mural and canvas work. Art has played a huge role in their life and their identity as a person\, as well as helped them greatly on their mental health journey. SUMMARY:Blind Pig Brewpub
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Samuel Herndon! (20) 8×10 Silver Gelatin Prints All editions 1/1 One year capturing photographs on 35mm black-and-white film\, each image inspired by a one-word AI prompt. \nThis series investigates the intersection of generative artificial intelligence and traditional photographic practice. Over the span of a year\, the artist produced 35mm black-and-white photographs in response to single-word AI prompts. \nThe project positions analog photography within the context of an expanding digital image ecosystem. At a moment when text-to-image systems can generate limitless visual output in seconds\, Samuel’s work returns to a slower methodology rooted in exposure\, chemical process\, and physical permanence. \nThe series converts minimal digital input into a deliberate physical artifact\, highlighting how interpretation intervenes between prompt and print. \nFriday 4/10/2026: 11:00 AM-11:00 PM\nSaturday 4/11/2026: 11:00 AM-11:00 PM\nSunday 4/12/2025: 11:00 AM- 9:00 PM \nOpening Reception on 4/10/2026 in the evening.
