Current students are working in painting\, printmaking\, sculpture\, textiles\, drawing\, collage\, animation\, photography\, and social practice. Events include textile workshops\, drop-in artmaking activities\, artworks for sale\, panel conversation\, publication release\, plant sale\, and light refreshments. \nSUNDAY\, APRIL 12: \n11:00am-12:30pm Photoembroidery Workshop\nVictoria Schiodtz\nLocation: Building 5\nCLICK HERE to Register! \n1:00-3:00pm Wardrobe Workshop ($5 deposit- to be returned at the workshop) \nLab Thair Thursday and Jennie Maydew\nLocation: Building 2\nCLICK HERE to Register! \n4:00-4:45pm Publication Release and Panel Conversation\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm Collage and Button Making\nThursday Talcott\nLocation: Building 6 \n11:00am-4:00pm Printmaking Shop\nIndigo Rodríguez\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm Plant Sale\nLocation: Building 2 \n11:00am-4:00pm DIY Popcorn Bar\nLocation: Building 6 \n\n\n\nDriveways are gravel and doors are not automatic — though\, there are no stairs or ramps to worry about\, and doors will be propped open. \nIndigo Rodríguez is an artist and writer interrogating representation\, erasure\, and the confrontational nature of normative assumptions. He draws upon multiple disciplines to create sculptures and installations — working with materials in disrepair to challenge what is thought to be worthy of artistic attention. \n\n\n\nJennie Maydew explores how an interdisciplinary social practice can playfully dissolve prescription\, emphasize process\, and keep our personal and communal gifts in motion. Through an inquiry into alternate economies\, (fun)ctionality\, and the concept of play as serious work\, she centers the nature and urgency of our obligations to past\, present\, and future beings. Creating the conditions where questions can be collectively tended\, Jennie delays certainty to recognize attention\, attunement\, and ambivalence as life-sustaining strategies. \nVictoria Schiodtz is an intermedial artist born in Viña Del Mar\, Chile\, in 1998. She attended the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso\, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in 2021. Her body of work and exploration orbit the concepts of trauma\, memory\, body and origin. Victoria currently lives in Urbana\, Illinois\, where she is an MFA in Studio Art candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. \nThair Thursday – Sculptor\, animator\, fiber artist//organizer\, gardener\, friend//trans\, queer\, fag \n

He currently works as a freelance illustrator and is launching a small risograph press in town called Get Home Safe. His work features multiple mediums and is playful in nature. \nHannah Wilson (Showing at Dandy Hound) is a graphic artist and illustrator whose pieces depict mythical creatures consuming different libations. Her work has been featured at Dandy Hound previous years and Dandy Hound is thrilled to have her back. \nLuke and Molly Ames (Showing at Dandy Hound\, Saturday only) are a husband and wife team that creates one-of-a-kind pieces using beautiful hardwoods: local and exotic. SUMMARY:The Scratching Post
DESCRIPTION:The Scratching Post will exhibit works from four local artists during Boneyard Arts Festival: Shauri E. Gonzalez\, Katie Khau\, EKAH and Sydney Bruner. This will be an open house exhibit on the cafe side (cat free) during our normal open hours. \nShauri E Gonzalez: Cats appear in my work as quiet muses of autonomy\, softness\, and subtle rebellion. I create cat art to capture the feeling of living alongside them; the softness\, the mischief\, the comfort. Through my art\, I hope viewers see their own companions reflected back at them and feel that familiar love we share for the cats who choose us. Or perhaps fall in love with cats themselves\, as my depictions place cats in tender\, aesthetic home spaces to highlight their charm and individuality. Another reason I draw cats is to allow me to explore feminism in a way I have not seen explored before\, gentle and sweet. The exploration of one’s interests and reclaiming softness. Similarly\, returning to pink often symbolizes healing and making peace with parts of oneself that were previously suppressed. I use cats as my art theme to feel intimate and cozy. Cats are both rooted in softness and self-possession and the quiet strength of simply being. Cats do not perform for approval. They rest when they want to rest. They ask for affection on their own terms. They observe before they act. There is something profoundly feminist in that. In my drawings\, cats are soft but sovereign. They represent rest without guilt\, affection without submission\, beauty without apology. They remind us that femininity does not have to be loud to be powerful but can be quiet\, watchful\, and unwavering like a cat. \nKatie Khau: Katie Khau is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Champaign\, IL. She does graphic design for museum exhibits at Taylor Studios and does freelance art and design for board games. Katie is on the board of CUDO and co-chair of the CUDO Plays board game design competition. \nEKAH: I am a visual artist originally from Seoul\, South Korea. My family and I immigrated to New York City where I spent most of my formative years. My work visually tells stories using both traditional and modern tools—drawing\, animation\, digital media\, optical illusions\, and interactive art. The worlds I create are often inhabited by characters and environments that range from surreal to absurd. and dystopian or beautiful. Influenced by my multicultural upbringing\, my work evolves through curiosity for the unknown and tendency to challenge expectations. I embrace all media\, remaining agnostic to tools and styles. \nSydney Bruner: Sydney Bruner is an artist based out of Champaign\, IL. She primarily uses acrylic and oil paint. Her artwork focuses on topics of nature\, nostalgia\, pop culture\, feminism\, and introspection. She enjoys working with bright colors\, glitter\, rhinestones\, and iridescent materials. \nFriday 2pm-10pm\nSaturday 2pm-10pm\nSunday 2pm-10pm
