DESCRIPTION:Come out to the Lake of the Woods to dance and express yourself at this Boneyard Arts Festival event! All are welcome to enjoy music and let their creativity flow. The music will be selected by featured boneyard artists in collaboration with a DJ performance by sparr. View acme.nadir as they live paint on canvas and if you’re feeling interactive\, join Bailee Poggendorf in her liquid fluid abstract acrylics and learn some techniques through hands on group painting. Be ready to get messy and enjoy all the fun! All are welcome\, the interactive fluid art activity is recommended for kids 12 & over. SUMMARY:Khuri Art Studio
DESCRIPTION:The exhibit includes several artists’ work of paintings\, drawings\, small sculptures\, collaborative mural painting\, DYI framing demonstrations\, and live music. \nLocated at 100 N Chestnut Street\, Suite 243\, Champaign\, IL. 61820 \nSally Burgett\, a retired teacher\, is a self-taught watercolorist who paints bright florals\, including greeting cards that she sells through local businesses such as Art Mart. \nLydia Khuri: Lydia’s work spans figurative\, landscape\, and abstract approaches held together by an expressionist search for each piece’s meaning. It is embedded in recurring themes of land\, transcendence\, wholeness\, and fracturing. She uses water-based media. \nJason Khuri-Reid draws inspiration from nature\, particularly birds\, and works in a variety of 3-D media. Wood\, metal\, and ceramic are his favorites. \nLeslie Kimble: The essence of Leslie’s work is to bring a vision of community and inter-connectedness whether through public collaborative projects or communicating through fine art. DESCRIPTION:The Champaign County Forest Preserves hosted a photo contest to highlight the natural beauty of the preserves.\n\nParticipants submitted stunning images capturing landscapes\, close-ups of plants\, insects\, birds\, and wildlife\, as well as breathtaking seasonal scenes and vibrant moments of outdoor recreation. Selections from these photographs were used to create the 2026 Champaign County Forest Preserves calendar. Submissions of these photos are displayed here.\n\n\nPhoto Contest Viewing\nFriday 4/10\, 1-5pm\nSaturday 4/11\, 1-5pm\nSunday 4/12\, 1-5pm\n\n\n\nThe Museum of the Grand Prairie is unveiling a stunning mural in their sensory-friendly visitor space! Meet the muralist behind the magic at this opening reception. \nacme.nadir is a local artist from the area. They first got into painting through skateboarding/graffiti. Over the years they’ve enjoyed experimenting with different mediums and styles\, their favorites being spray paint and acrylics. Over the last two years they’ve been focusing heavy on mural and canvas work. Art has played a huge role in their life and their identity as a person\, as well as helped them greatly on their mental health journey. They find a lot of their inspiration from nature\, music and meeting people who are passionate about what they do. \nThe artist will have pieces created on tree slices available for purchase. SUMMARY:Horizon Climbing
DESCRIPTION:The art gallery featuring Gertie Bakalus is located in Horizon Climbing’s front lobby! Following our opening reception on April 11th at 6pm\, guests are welcome to rock climb at half price ($10 per person). Further inside the gym\, you can enjoy our mural artwork by Leslie Kimble. Our climbing gym welcomes adults and kids of all ages! \nGertie Bakalus: The featured artist works with recycled fabrics and clothing rescued from the landfill\, using appliqué quilting techniques to explore landscapes and places. The pieces are crafted through a collage-like process of cutting\, layering\, and stitching fabric\, using simple shapes and materials with varied patterns. Shapes\, colors\, textures\, and stitches create depth and movement\, translating familiar environments into layered\, tactile compositions. \nLeslie Kimble: Leslie has two semi-permanent works of art in Horizon Climbing. Her colorful window painting can be enjoyed from both outside and inside the gym. Further inside\, her stunning sunrise mural adds warmth and beauty to the space. \nThere is no admission fee for the opening reception or to enjoy the gallery in our front lobby. If you would like to climb following the opening reception\, it will be $10 per person. \nOpening reception: April 11th at 6PM\nArt gallery/gym hours: Monday through Saturday 10AM-10PM; Sundays 10AM-8PM
