I have been making fiber art for 40 years – the last 6 full time. I am based in central Illinois. I started working with fabric when I was young and eventually found improvisational fabric art that I have been concentrating on for the last 5 years. I mainly work with miscellaneous fibers. Every piece I do is an experiment, but the process is very much the same for each one. I use scrap pieces from previous projects (upcycled linens, lace, silk, etc.). My subjects are almost entirely abstract improvisational. My inspiration comes from nature. Whether outside my front door, outer space, or under the water. I am trying to encourage people to have a reaction to the individual piece. The reaction may be good, bad, indifferent or any emotion on the spectrum. For future projects, I plan to add different elements, natural fibers and layers to my art.
