Work will be displayed in two places on the main floor: the display case and the Artist of the Corridor wall. \nThis exhibit features a selection of black and white photographs by Raymond Bial from the years 1973 through 1988\, comprised of landscapes\, portraits\, and other subjects. Printed by hand\, by the photographer. Raymond Bial (1948-2021) was an award-winning photographer and author. Raymond was the director of the Parkland College Library for many years\, but his true passions were photography and writing. He published several books of beautiful photographs and he was also a prolific author of photo-essays on a variety of topics for children\, many of which won awards\, as well as works of fiction for children. Raymond’s photographs in particular express his love of the American landscape\, especially in its rural aspect\, and its people. The photos shown in this exhibit are among his earliest work and were made primarily with a medium-format camera\, the Mamiya RB67\, and were printed by hand in his home darkroom. \nMusic Performance on Sunday\, April 16 at 2pm: UFLive! presents Samba Soul! Come enjoy the creative rhythms and beautiful melodies of the Samba Soul band. Their rich repertoire ranges from classical Brazilian music to contemporary samba and MPB (Brazilian popular music) songs. Samba Soul draws its talent from a specially selected group of skilled musicians. George Turner (guitar)\, Armand Beaudoin (bass)\, and Chip McNeil (saxophone) share the stage with Brazilian vocalist\, Vivian Felicio. Together\, they create vibrant\, rhythmic sounds and a unique stage presence\, which appeal to both local and international audiences. \nA Reading by the Red Herring Writers on Sunday\, April 16 at 3pm: Join us for this annual Boneyard Arts program! Writers from the Red Herring Fiction Workshop (Champaign-Urbana’s longest-running writing workshop) will share their work. These events always feature a rich variety of creative writing styles and topics. The Red Herring Fiction Workshop has been meeting since 1980. They currently meet at the Champaign Public Library at 7pm on Tuesdays. Writers at every level are welcome. \nThe Library’s Boneyard hours:\nFriday\, 4/14: 9am-6pm\nSaturday\, 4/15: 9am-6pm\nSunday\, 4/16: 1pm-5pm URL:https://boneyardartsfestival.org/events/the-urbana-free-library/ LOCATION:The Urbana Free Library\, 210 West Green Street\, Urbana\, IL\, 61801\, United States CATEGORIES:Fine Art,Jazz,Kids/Family friendly,Music,Photography,Poetry/Lit,Speaker/discussion,Urbana,Visual Art,Vocal,World Music ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://boneyardartsfestival.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Urbana-Free-Library.jpg END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
